Sarah Sheets - Hungary and Slovakia Sarah is a second year Political Science major with a concentration in International Relations, originally from Carlsbad, California. Her professional goals are to work for the State Department as a Foreign Service Officer, or to work abroad supporting NGOs from a legal perspective. Her academic interests lie with Globalization and its effects on different communities of the world. This past summer she had the opportunity to teach English in Hungary and Slovakia, which confirmed her desire to live abroad as well as opening her eyes to a career path working for NGOs that she had never before considered. It also gave her a reason to take a Hungarian language class at Berkeley, which has turned out to be one of the highlights of the semester. She is ecstatic to be returning to Central Europe, especially because of the lasting friendships she made there with her hosts and students. She hopes she can help other volunteers have as great of an experience as she did.   Reach out to Sarah: hungary.slovakia@learningenterprises.org

Anna-Bella Sicilia - Crete Anna-Bella, a History and Philosophy major at the University of Maryland, loves her home state of Maryland despite her tendency to constantly be abroad. She volunteered in Thailand and had so many amazing experiences with the people and culture there that she knew LE would continue to be a part of her life. Her family connections in Greece led her to consider establishing a program that could provide the people of Crete (its largest island) with LE's wonderful services and opportunities for cultural exchange--and the rest is history.  This will be her second summer directing the program.  She loves to draw and paint, plays clarinet in Maryland's marching band, and helps run the UMD Ethics Bowl Team. Please reach out to her with any questions about the program!   Reach out to Anna-Bella: crete@learningenterprises.org

Lauren Apple - Mauritius Lauren first joined the LE team in 2010 as a volunteer in Hungary and Slovakia. After having an amazing summer and meeting so many great people, Lauren came back to Hungary and Slovakia to serve as PD in 2011 and 2012. After a year in France, Lauren moved back to Budapest in 2014 where she continues to teach, providing private English lessons and tutoring for both children and adults. LE gave Lauren the opportunity to go to a new place, meet new people and form lasting friendships. It also helped her realize her love and passion for teaching English to others. When Lauren is not teaching, she is bopping around all over Europe, traveling, learning, exploring and taking pictures along the way. She is excited and ready to be involved with LE again, this time as the Mauritius PD. Lauren hopes to inspire new volunteers to make strong connections and lasting memories with LE, changing their lives like LE did hers!
