Hailey is a junior at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. She fell in love with Learning Enterprises the summer of 2016 when she volunteered with the LE Crete pilot program.
Learning Enterprises brought out her love of teaching. As a vocal performance major she hopes to one day be an Opera singer and teach children music and English. Hailey is so excited to bring LE to the University of Michigan campus and is ready to spread the word about the amazing opportunities LE has to offer!
Sylvie Dobrota - UC Berkeley
Sylvie is a senior studying Neurobiology at UC Berkeley.
She volunteered for the LE Romania & Croatia program in 2015 and fell in love with the places she went and people she met that summer. She wants others to have the same amazing experiences and hopes to be able to spread the word about Learning Enterprises. In her spare time, Sylvie loves spending time with her gymnastic club team, traveling, and eating good food.
Avdeep is a sophomore at the University of California, Berkeley pursuing a degree in Political Economics. She was an LE intern for UCBerkeley, before embarking on her volunteer trip to Panama. Through the amazing experiences of this trip, Avdeep realized that LE was something dear to her heart. She became CD in hopes of encouraging more people become aware of and apply for LE. She hopes to continue working with the organization and help expand LE even further.
Besides LE and academics, Avdeep enjoys dancing, painting, outdoor adventures, henna and balloon twisting.
Eden is a junior studying Government and Politics, Spanish, and International Development at the University of Maryland. She was a volunteer for PY16 in Poland, where she had an incredible experience teaching in the beautiful Bieszczady Mountain region on the Polish/Ukrainian border. After undergrad she hopes to take a year off to do volunteer work around the world and then go to grad school for international relations or law.
Eden had such an incredible experience in Poland that she wanted to help recruit and select University of Maryland students to continue the legacy of so many other LE Maryland volunteers.
Ian is a sophomore at Georgetown University from Nashville, Tennessee and is planning on majoring in International Politics. Having taught ESL classes for four years, he volunteered in the Learning Enterprises Panama program last summer.
He is excited to promote LE at Georgetown after having such a rich experience in Panama. In his free time, he enjoys playing on the club tennis team at Georgetown and seeing all that DC has to offer.
Curnisha is a Junior at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. After participating in Learning Enterprises' Thailand program, she decided to change her major to Learning and Education Studies.
The time spent helping and teaching English influenced that decision; she realized how interested she was in education. Participating in LE has changed her life. She believes she can do things like travel across the world as she didn't before this program. She wants to involve students on her campus who are unaware of such a wonderful, life-changing organization.
Phoebe studies Public Relations at the University of Tampa, however she currently aspires to enter the field of broadcast journalism. She has always valued travel and just got back from spending a semester studying abroad in Granada, Spain.
She also got the opportunity to teach with the LE China Team this past summer and still wants to stay involved in any way possible. The experiences she had were truly life changing.
In her free time, Phoebe likes to keep mentally and physically active with activities like yoga, hiking, dancing, writing, volunteering and reading.
She looks forward to helping others around her discover such a wonderful organization and maybe even teaching with another LE program one day.
Nora is a sophomore studying English at Brown University. She volunteered for the LE China program during the summer of 2016, teaching a class of fifth graders in the Zhejiang Province. Nora loved working with such a passionate, international team—comprised of both Nanjing University students and other LE volunteers. She wants to build on this experience, and get other members of the Brown community involved.
In her free time, Nora makes art, writes for her campus’ music publication and tries to read as much as possible.
Maggie is a senior at the University of Michigan-Flint studying Communication and Media Studies with a minor in Gender Studies. She spent the summer of 2016 volunteering with the Romania program and had a wonderfully unforgettable experience. She is very excited to be the first Campus Director at the University of Michigan-Flint and she wants to spread the word about Learning Enterprises around her campus and encourage students to volunteer and experience this unique cultural exchange opportunity.
In her free time, Maggie likes hugging her dog, doing yoga, volunteering, and learning new things.
Madison is a first year graduate student studying Systems Engineering at GWU. She wanted to do something out of her comfort zone and travel before grad school, so she volunteered for LE Poland in 2016. She had an amazing experience and is excited to continue on with LE as a Campus Director.
Kayle studies World Politics at Leiden University College The Hague in the Netherlands. She participated in Learning Enterprises' China programme in 2016, and she loves travelling and learning, whether from books or conversation.
Grace is a sophomore studying International Relations at Brown University. She hopes to continue her education and work with international development someday.
Grace was a volunteer for Learning Enterprises in Brazil in 2016, and truly enjoyed the LE experience. She enjoyed the cross cultural exchange aspect of the program both with her students and her host family. She hopes to continue her involvement in LE as co-Campus Director, and spark more interest about the program on campus.
Erin Luck - Georgetown University
Erin is a sophomore majoring in International Political Economy at Georgetown University. She was a volunteer for the Panama 2015 LE program where she taught students on the Los Santos region. As Campus Director, Erin is excited to share her experience with other Georgetown students and connect them to communities through the great work of Learning Enterprises! She is looking forward to spreading the mission of Learning Enterprises and making Program Year 2017 the greatest year yet!
Taylor is a junior music education major at the Boyer College of Music an Dance. She was a volunteer for LE Thailand 2016, which was a life-changing experience. She enjoys music, crafting, and eating food.
Naomi is a sophomore at the University of Wisconsin majoring in Neuroscience. She hopes to get her doctorate in this field, so she can become a neuroscience professor.
Naomi had always liked teaching and working with kids before volunteering for LE in the 2016 Panama program. Before her LE experience, she had volunteered at a local middle school working with disadvantaged youth, participated in social justice movements on campus, and tutored math and chemistry students. After going to Panama though, volunteering with LE proved to be the best experience of them all. She made so many good friends, became intimately close to a beautiful and foreign culture, helped a beautiful group of 13 kids, and became a better and enlightened person in the process.
Naomi hopes to take this positive energy and excitement to increase awareness of LE on the UW-Madison campus. She would love to see LE expand because she believes it’s an amazing organization!
